Special Olympics PEI Receives $25,000 Donation from PEI Mutual Insurance Company
Summerside athlete, Oliver Venneman, along with Special Olympics PEI's Executive Director, Charity Sheehan, paid a special visit to PEI Mutual Insurance Company this week. Oliver and Charity visited Special Olympics PEI's Founding Partner to say thank you for 33 years of support, and to accept a $25,000 donation.

Oliver was excited for the opportunity to visit PEI Mutual as he offered thanks on behalf of his fellow athletes. Oliver has been a Special Olympics athlete for almost 15 years. Through Special Olympics Oliver has the opportunity to participate in a variety of different sports, including 5-Pin Bowling, Bocce, Athletics and Basketball. Oliver has found success and joy through Special Olympics, as was demonstrated at the recent 5-Pin Bowling Provincials where Oliver won a Bronze medal.
In addition to supporting events like the recent 5-Pin Bowling Provincials, this generous donation will be used to support sport programs and competitive opportunities for Islanders with an intellectual disability in communities across PEI. Outside of sport, this donation will also support Athlete Leadership and inclusive health opportunities. Special Olympics PEI current provides opportunities for over 700 athletes, and thanks to supporters like PEI Mutual Insurance Company we are able to continue to expand our programs, enriching the lives of more athletes.
