Every two years, alternating between Summer and Winter, Special Olympics PEI is represented on the national level by a team of athletes, coaches, and mission staff. Athlete team members are selected based on results from regional and provincial competitions. Coach and Mission Staff positions are selected by an ad hoc subcommittee of the Special Olympics PEI Board of Directors.

The 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games are taking place in Medicine Hat, Alberta in August 2026. Team PEI will be represented by 47 athletes and 25 coaches and mission staff. Athletes will be competing in 8 sports - Athletics, Basketball, Bocce, Golf, Powerlifting, Soccer, Softball and Swimming.

It has been a tremendous honor to witness our members train and qualify for this team since Fall 2023. Each individual has worked very hard and we are so fortunate to have such devoted volunteers in coach/mission roles who have committed to preparing athletes for 2026! This team of 72 is one of the largest Summer Games teams that will be representing PEI. I am thrilled to continue this journey to Medicine Hat with this incredible group to witness all the accomplishments on and off the field.
