Year of the Volunteer - Donut Ambassadors Jackie and George Charchuk
2026 is the International Year of Volunteers. All year long we will be highlighting and celebrating our amazing volunteers.
This month, on the heals of the Special Olympics Donut fundraising campaign, we are thrilled to highlight two Donut Ambassadors, Jackie and George Charchuk! Jackie and George have been volunteering as Donut Ambassadors, along with their daughter, and Special Olympics athlete, Janet, for many years. Well known in West Prince, they are always quick to volunteer as Donut Ambassadors at the O'Leary Tim Hortons.
We asked Jackie and George a few questions about their experience volunteering as Donut Ambassadors.
Question: What is your favourite part about being a Donut Ambassador?
Answer: The delicious donuts, of course! And also the opportunity to showcase Special Olympics athletes, while helping to raise funds for wonderful programs.
Q: What is your favourite part about being a volunteer with Special Olympics PEI?
A: Our favourite part of volunteering is meeting new people, and all the fun times with the athletes. Special Olympics creates such a positive environment!
Q: Why should others consider volunteering with Special Olympics PEI?
A: Others should consider volunteering with Special Olympics because it helps give you a good sense of self worth. The athletes grow and improve and you can share in their sense of accomplishment.
Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Without them, we could not deliver on our promise to enrich the lives of children, youth, and adults involved in our programs. Consider volunteering with an organization that changes attitudes and builds stronger communities across Prince Edward Island. You will make meaningful and lasting changes in many lives, including your own.
