HEAD COACH – WOMEN’S SOCCER

PROVINCE: Alberta

How long have you been involved with Special Olympics?

For 22 years.

How is your life different since joining Special Olympics?

I find that if I have had a rough day at work I come to Special Olympics and see how much fun the athletes are having and how they over come challenges and then my day does not look so bad. They have really taught me to appreciate life.

What do you like most about the sport you will be competing in at Special Olympics World Summer Games Berlin 2023?

I absolutely live soccer and have played, coached and refereed for as long as I can remember. To share this experience with an amazing group of athletes and see their successes and dreams come true is amazing. It has always been my dream to see an all female team compete for Canada and it is finally a reality and I will be part of it.

What is your proudest moment with Special Olympics?

There are so many as I am just proud to be part of an amazing organization that is so inclusive and provides a stage for our athletes to display their abilities. When an athlete succeeds, we all succeed and I feel so proud to be part of that.

What does Special Olympics and attending World Games mean to you?

This is a dream come true and especially as it is with the first all female team representing Canada on the world stage.

What is your goal for Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023?

My goal is to ensure the athletes are given the skills and training so they can give there very best during competition. I also want all the athletes to have an amazing and fun experience at the games. My dream goal is for the team to win a gold medal, which will just top off all their hard work and determination.
