“As an LETR volunteer I get the pride to work collaboratively with our law enforcement partners in delivering projects in our community to raise awareness and money for Special Olympics Yukon athletes. For me, the ultimate event is the LETR Torch Run each year as it brings Guardians of the Flame together with Special Olympics athletes to run with the flame of hope through the streets of our community. I am so honoured to be able to share this experience with our athletes who bring positivity, love and acceptance into my life and for whom, I am eternally grateful.”
- Yukon Law Enforcement Torch Run co-chair Grant MacDonald
About the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR)
The mission of the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics is to increase awareness and raise funds for the Special Olympics movement. The Law Enforcement Torch Run® is the largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicle for Special Olympics. Since its inception in 1981, it has grown extensively worldwide with over 97,000 volunteers spanning 46 countries, and raising more than US$460 million for the Special Olympics movement. Fundraising is only part of what the officers involved with the initiative give to the movement. Our athletes say law enforcement officers are truly supportive of the cause – extending to them friendship, acceptance and encouragement.
