Biography: 

Maura, from Lower Harmony, NS has been involved with Special Olympics in various capacities for almost 20 years. Maura’s son, Matthew, competes in both swimming and snowshoeing. She attended the World Games in Greece and Los Angeles as a very proud parent. Maura was also Family Liaison for the Canadian swim team at the L.A. Games. Maura’s husband and her other four children are also very active Special Olympics volunteers.  Maura says that Special Olympics has provided her the opportunity to give back to a community which has given so much to her entire family. She is incredibly honoured to be part of a team of hardworking athletes as they represent Canada on the World Stage.
