SOBC Inclusive Health Care Provider List

Suggest a Health Practitioner
We often receive questions from athletes and families about recommended health care providers and who to visit for their health concerns. To help fill this gap, Special Olympics BC is developing a public list of Inclusive Health Care Providers—those with proven experience caring for, and working with, people with intellectual disabilities.
With your help, we are looking to expand this list to include health care providers across British Columbia. If you know any health practitioners who would be interested in this opportunity, please suggest them for consideration by emailing health@specialolympics.bc.ca. Special Olympics BC will reach out to them to ask if they would like to be included on the upcoming list.
Thank you for helping create #InclusiveHealth!
Get Involved as a Health Practitioner
- Health Professional Training offered by Special Olympics We realize many health practitioners may wish to work more with people with intellectual disabilities but are not sure where to begin. We recommend the following learning modules within the Health Professional Training offered by Special Olympics: Introduction to Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (45 minutes), Special Olympics Health (30 minutes), Supporting Families through the Intellectual and Developmental Disability Diagnosis (45 minutes) We also encourage you to explore additional modules!
- Volunteer with Healthy Athletes Join the more than 90,000 health care providers and students worldwide who have volunteered with the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes program and changed the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Through Healthy Athletes, health care professionals receive training about the specific health care concerns of people with intellectual disabilities and how to ask the right questions, helping them draw out issues.
