Special Olympics BC coaches constantly seek to provide the best possible mentorship to athletes with intellectual disabilities!

SOBC offers year-round development events and resources to help coaches grow in their roles, offer safe sport environments, and empower their athletes in sport.

The courses listed below are sport-specific, and required for coaches going to Special Olympics Canada Games.

• Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance is offering CSIA Level 1 courses at mountains throughout B.C. starting in December. Select BC under Region or select your local mountain to see courses offered near you.

• Online - Foundations of Coaching | November 23 & 30, 2025
• NCCP Coaching Initiation in Sport - An online course offered through the Locker under the e-Learning tab (under multi-sport).
• NCCP Coaching Athletes with a Disability - An online course offered through the Locker under the e-Learning tab (under multi-sport).
• Becoming Para Ready - An online course offered through the Locker under the e-Learning tab (under Athletics).
• Introduction to Long Term Development in Athletics - An online course offered through the Locker under the e-Learning tab (under Athletics).

BC Soccer

Soccer Online Theory

• To register, go to Soccer Canada. Select the Soccer for Life option under the Grassroots Coach Education program. This is a 2-hr online theory course that must be completed a minimum of two weeks prior to registering for the Soccer for Life Practical Course.
