When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?
I got involved in 1997. I was told about Special Olympics British Columbia by a friend of mine.
Will these be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games did you compete in, and in what sports?
I competed in the 2004 National Winter Games in floor hockey and the 2014 National Summer Games in basketball.
What were your results in the 2019 Special Olympics BC Winter Games? How did you feel about your performance?
We came in second place, due to goals against, but tied with the first-place team. I felt great about it! I left everything I had on the floor.
What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2020?
It makes me very happy to be part of Team BC.
What is your goal for these National Games?
To perform my best and show that people with disabilities are amazing!
What does competing at National Games mean to you?
It means showing that people with disabilities are awesome and are equally capable of being athletes.
What do you like most about the sport you will compete in at National Games?
I like the competitive nature of floor hockey.
What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?
Being a part of Team Canada basketball in 2015.
What would you tell someone about Special Olympics to encourage them to get involved?
It is amazing!
What other Special Olympics sports do you participate in?
Basketball, golf and softball.
Please tell us a little bit more about yourself! What else would you like people to know about you?
I work as a fare enforcement officer for Translink (our local Transportation Authority) and I have a son who is eight years old.
