When and how did you get involved with Special Olympics?

Started as staff in September 2018.

Will this be your first Special Olympics Canada Games? If not, which other National Games were you part of and in what role(s)?

Yes, this is the first one!

What does it mean to you to be part of Special Olympics Team BC 2024?

It means a lot to me to be part of SO Team BC 2024. Being in a team and sport environment, even though it can be chaotic, is when I do my best and thrive. It's just so great to see all the action and meet people I may not have had the chance to meet before!

What is/are your goal(s) for these National Games?

To learn from more experienced mission staff, support my curling team, and get to meet others from around Canada!

What is your favourite Special Olympics experience to date?

My favourite to date would have to be from this past Provincial Games in Kamloops.

What does competing at National Games mean to your athletes? (or, if this is your first National Games, competition in general)

Competition is huge to the athletes. It's an opportunity for them to showcase their skills but also meet other people as well!

What storylines are you excited to see develop in your SO Team BC sport team leading up to the National Games?

I'm excited to see how the curling team, while several smaller teams, comes together as one team to complete challenges and support each other.

What would you say about Special Olympics to encourage someone to get involved?

Special Olympics, and in B.C. in particular, is such a welcoming community. Even if you've never interacted or worked with people with intellectual disabilities before, give it a shot! You'll be surprised at how welcoming and amazing the athletes and coaches are.
