About SOBC – Nelson

Special Olympics BC – Nelson consists of an ever-growing group of dedicated volunteers and athletes who live in Nelson surrounding area. We are one of the longest-running SOBC Locals in the Kootenays, and we currently offer 5-pin bowling, swimming, snowshoeing, bocce, and floor hockey. Nelson also has Alpine skiing which is open to all athletes.

We are working on building both the Active Start and FUNdamentals programs for our Nelson youth with intellectual disabilities. These programs are for athletes ages 2 to 11. Currently we are welcoming both athletes and youth leaders for these programs.

We are actively seeking volunteers to join our Local Committee, as well as coaches and program volunteers for all of our sports.

If you are interested in more information on getting involved with SOBC as a volunteer or an athlete, please contact SOBC – Nelson Volunteer Coordinator Sayla Harder at nelson.volunteer@specialolympics.bc.ca
