The 3rd Annual Heroes Running for Heroes event in support of Special Olympics Alberta is going virtual in 2020!
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic and in keeping with health officials to limit large gatherings, we’ve decided to offer our race virtually for 2020 event participants.
Since the run is virtual, that means you can run or walk your own course of either 5 km or 10 km any time between October 24 - 31, 2020. Once you have completed you distance you can email your time along with a screenshot of your tracking device to Edmonton.albertatorchrun@gmail.com (All results must be submitted by midnight on October 31, 2020.
Cost: $25 per person with all proceeds going to local Special Olympics programs (One set fee for all).
Where: Anywhere. Just ensure you follow the guidelines set out by your local government and health agencies for physical and social distancing.
All participants that complete their distance will be provided a medal that will be mailed to you once the event is complete. There will be prizes for the top male and female runners at each distance.
Also, we are asking that people take pictures of them running in their superhero costumes and post them online using our official hashtags #LETRHeroesRunningForHeroes or #SpecialOlympicsAlberta.
People can also submit up to 3 photos of their run in costume to the following email: Edmonton.albertatorchrun@gmail.com
All entries will be entered into a draw for prizes.
We are providing long sleeve technical running shirts to everyone who raises a minimum of $100. Shirts will be mailed out along with medals once the event is complete.
You can set up a fundraising page through your Running Room account, after you have registered for the virtual run all you need to do is go to the fundraising tab and select raise funds to set up your fundraising page.
